That feeling of awe is what everyone is overwhelmed with when seeing the Big Buddha. It is a colossal statue that rises up from the top of Nakkerd Hill. the building was recently made and has undergone some form of construction, therefore explaining the concrete you could see.
The statue of the Big Buddha, also known as Phra Phutta Ming Mongkol Eknakakiri, is 45 meters (147 ft) tall and was completed around 2004 with donations from the public. The Big Buddha is a marvel to the people of Phuket, as it was built completely from the donations of the community. It is made up of a number of different materials, from the white Jade marble stones from Myanmar covering the statue to the concrete forming the structure from within. It is a true engineering masterpiece that required an incredible effort to transport materials to the top of the mountain. Aside from being a masterpiece, the Big Buddha is also said to represent hope and peace to the region, providing residents and visitors equal opportunity to meditate in its presence while taking in the incredible view of the Phuket bay.
