Hello Hiveians
In my previous post here I was highlighting the importance of contouring a basic bodice for cloth designs so as to have a better fitted cloth especially for designs like the one we have here in which we have an off shoulder styline that can expose the bust if not properly shaped.
I followed the basic principle to contour and cut this lovely princess dress for my cousin who went ahead to stitch and finish up her dress.
Here I used both the Neck and under bust contour principle guide but she insisted on not understanding the principle because she is learning fashion at a tailor shop in which they do no such.
She Abandoned some of the guide and paperwork adding allowance because she was scared that my patterns looked so small to fit her body, now we have some loose spot and gapping at the under bust
Contouring and cutting the basic bodice
I used her bust waist and hip measurements to draft and cut this pattern block which was then used to cut the fabric to the half length level
Next she had her skirt part cut using the waist hip and full length
We got some white ready made bias for decorative stitching on the dress and after using it to turn the flair sleeves she also stitched them on the front line of the slit.
This was all completed with final fixing of zippers and ironing
Now we have our finished contoured dress, front and back here
Note that it is also important to know that once our patterns are correct we may not need any form of padding or interfacing for our dress to get fitted. A quality lining will also add somw firm magical touch and our outfit will come out just perfect.
