Hello Hive.
Harvest is the sweetest part of farming most especially when you get a maximum yield like our corn just did. This year has been one of the most productive year I have ever known. The rains were constant keeping the soil wet while the sun wasn't that hot to burn any leaf. So long as the ground is fertile there was no cause for alarm
We decided to allow the corn dry out in the farm.
And usually not all the maize dry out at the same time even if they are planted in the same day
The initial intention was to sell off these corn fresh to market women who roast and sell corn but we had no need for any urgent money and there is alot of farm work to be done meaning that we have do not have the luxury of time for harvest. Remembering that after harvest we also need to peel the maize and sun dry for days.
While everyone worked in the farm and the children have gone to school there is no one at home to watch the maize.
It is usually the children's job to peel the maize from the combs since this is done manually.
And holiday is in a week or two.
These will be left out to dry a little more for the next two weeks when the kids can come to assist with harvest and peeling of the corn.
