Finding butterflies like this is quite a treat as a photographer. These are from an enclosure dedicated to breeding butterflies at the Calgary Zoo. They are here year-round, and you can find them at all stages of life. Its a very warm and humid environment, so they will also be fairly docile, and you can find many simply hanging in different spots, which is a great opportunity to get up close and do some macro. I hope to get more time here soon, as its almost a photographer's paradise. I can take as much time as I need to get the shots I want.
