Among my favorite creatures to encounter. It's always a treat to see dragonflies, especially when I can see one at rest and get in nice and close. They usually tend to get a little more docile when it's really hot out and need to take a rest. Luckily, this one chose my balcony railing to do so and stayed in place for several minutes while I carefully moved in close with my macro lens to get a more detailed look.
