I told my mum the truth about my dad's death while we were doing all the burial rites. She was the only person I could confide in. "Min Jee what did you just say?" was the only thing she could mutter as she stood straight with shaky legs her large pregnancy creating difficulty for her. "Mum it's true" I said trying to avoid the pained look in my mum's eyes. "She really did it, she killed father" I said blinking tears away from my now heavy eyes. "Dowager why? Why did you do that? Do you know how much he loved and cherished you?" my mum said bitterly to no one in particular as she broke down in tears. "It's okay mother" I said trying to console her and unsuccessfully fighting back my tears. "I'll avenge my father's death" I said with determination and courage. "How are you going to do that?" my mother said. She clearly didn't want me to fight Dowager. It was all written on her face. "Mother don't worry I'll deal with Dowager myself" I said trying to convince her that I was capable "Min Jee don't try it. You'll only get hurt and lose all the people you love. If Dowager could kill your father she definitely will kill anyone "my mum said as she dried the tears from her eyes with the back of her palm. The pain and hopelessness my father's death caused me, my mother and our unborn baby blocked my thinking. All I wanted was revenge. I wanted to show Dowager that she can't just mess with my family and go scot free. I kept convincing my mum before she finally yielded in. I was bent on taking revenge and I swore that I'll go to any length to get it done.
All the rites and rituals for my father's burial had been completed and the burial was fixed on the day after the Bangsan market. Preparations were done in earnest. "Father was a noble man and he should be buried same"my mother said tearfully.
