...but still, a short walk in that city happened last Wednesday.
Our son was spending a couple of free-from-his-parents days in this city and we went to pick him up and continue our road trip. We needed a couple of hours to reach Barcelona so a rest and a short walk came in handy. At home, we learned well the map and which roads to choose in Barca and found an underground parking lot. Leaving all our belongings in the car, unattended somewhere on the street was out of the question. I didn't mind paying 3,40€ for one hour. Pretty expensive, but we were calm then to take this walk under the grey sky of Barcelona.

A smallish, calm street to reach the bigger ones. I felt as if this would be a little town. However, we had our young guides who already learned the city and the shortcuts so we trusted them.
And indeed, we arrived at a bigger street that would lead us to Plaza de España and Montjuic. It was just 10-15 minutes from the parking lot so no need to take the metro.
During the short walk, I saw a few interesting shops. I liked one colourful trousers but didn't want to make the others wait for me. Shopping can happen in any other city.
But this was a unique name for a shop. Solo Frikis (Only Geeks) 😁
It was closed so we couldn't enter to see the offer. They sell clothing and merchandise, for geeks :))
Can this resting statue be called a geek? He would need some clothing, maybe a funny T-shirt from that shop would make him happy, as I see him a bit sleepy.
We arrived at the Plaza de España, which is actually a roundabout. I took this photo while waiting at the traffic light before we crossed the street.
The place where we entered is Arenas de Barcelona, a round building that is now converted into a shopping mall. We wanted to have a better view. The young guides recommended climbing to the roof so we did it.
From there we could see once again the Plaza de España, Venetian Towers, and behind all of this the hill Montjuic. The building that looks like a castle is the National Museum of Art of Catalonia (if I am not mistaken).
This rest from driving was combined with taking this walk and also having lunch. An Asian restaurant was recommended, but I was not satisfied with it. I guess it is better to avoid the restaurants in the shopping malls and those that are close to them.
Police cars... because of the food and bad service we received in the restaurant? haha, no, I don't know why they were parked there.
There are a lot of beautiful places to visit in this city, but in a few hours, it is impossible. My son had enough time to make a nice tour and the following photos are made by him during the previous days!!
One of the emblematic buildings in Barcelona is Casa Milà, designed by Antoni Gaudí.
Sagrada Familia - I visited it many years ago but since then it changed a lot. It is constantly under construction, already since 1882. It is also designed by the same architect, Antoni Gaudí.
The Arc de Triomf for the end (also my son's photo) as we finished this walk in a short time, went back to the parking place, and needed around an hour to drive through Barcelona and get out from it 😂
