What does it look like? A perfect day by the sea?
If we tried to answer this question, I bet we would get many different answers. Everyone has different priorities or ways of spending time in nature, or specifically on the seashore, but we could still agree on some general points. For example, those who love water and know how to swim could dedicate some of their time to:
To admit it, I don't really like cold water, but since May, the water here has been pleasant and comfortable for swimming, so one of my favourite moments is when I can merge with the sea water, when I can feel how soft it is and how it caresses like silk. The taste of salty drops is also delicious. Not to mention the beauty of the transparent, clear water and the light that refracts on the pebbles and sand of the seabed.
But nooooooooooooo, not while fighting with waves like these!! 😫
With big waves, the water is no longer transparent, nor do you have any desire for that fight with waves that want to overwhelm you. And although getting into the water is not that much of a problem, getting out is already more than "interesting". So yeah, I skipped swimming today. But hey, we can still have plenty of other activities. Let's say...
Fortunately, we can always enjoy this activity regardless of whether the sea is calm or not. You can also bring sunscreen (this is advisable) and a parasol to hide in the shade when the sun shines the most, so as not to harm your skin. With a comfortable beach chair or a large towel or mat, everything becomes perfect... the only small detail is whether the sun is in accordance with your wishes. I mean, a small and completely insignificant detail, right?
Oh boy, it was hiding behind a layer of clouds almost all the time. In some moments, it was even becoming cold... but no worries, you can forget about the little mishaps while...
A proper lunch, prepared, packed and brought from home, ready for a picnic or camping trip, of course, with cutlery, napkins and everything that goes with it. That part is just as important and appealing to me as the previous two points. So, I found in my bag the only apple I brought 😂 and I ate it in no time... followed by a chocolate croissant I found in my husband's backpack. It's fine, I said to him, I will drink water for lunch.
And I did it. I drank water and eventually decided to practice some high-adrenaline...
Who wouldn't like to take part in these activities like surfing, kayaking, windsurfing, or balancing on those paddleboards? Ok, maybe you fancy more underwater activities, so snorkelling or scuba diving would fit your interests better? In any case, I had my beach shoes with me and went to see what I could do on this little beach...?
Ok, the reality is that the only thing I can do here is to walk along the seashore! 😆
This was perfect indeed! Just imagine the quantity of pebbles and seashells you can find interesting and pick up and take home, thinking about the kindness rocks (I have a new little tool for making dots that my son bought me, so I will need to try it) and the little creatures that lived in the empty shells I found.
Wait, not these rocks!! ❌
These ones are easier to take home.
And the seashells as well.
What we also brought home is our yellow parasol that survived the pretty strong wind blowing on the shore. However, it seems not everyone was so lucky, judging by the broken and discarded examples we saw in the trash can as we were leaving the beach.
After all, it doesn't matter whether the conditions on the beach on a certain day were perfect for you or not and whether you were able to do everything you usually enjoy. There will still be plenty of opportunities to swim or soak up some vitamin D. I still had a very good time today with summer vibes moments, and I even had a little nap, which also included dreams.
Plus, we were observing the agile flight of some swallows. I managed to count seven of them. It seemed as if they were playing as they let the wind carry them, and then they would suddenly turn in the other direction and catch the other current, and so on countless times. They seemed so playful, as if they had a lot of fun with that crazy speed - they definitely had a perfect day, or at least splendid moments by the sea.
