Esta semana ha estado ocupada y no he tenido tiempo de escribir, literalmente me ha tocado trabajar más de 14 horas diarias y es que ya estamos terminando el año y en la mayoría de los trabajos aumento el horario por la temporada.
This week has been busy and I haven't had time to write, I have literally had to work more than 14 hours a day and we are already finishing the year and in most jobs I increase the schedule for the season.
Así que mi rutina ha cambiado un poco para dedicarle más tiempo a la labor que desempeño aquí en Colombia, que es coser jeans, claro es solo estos dos meses que quedan porque ya el año que viene el ritmo vuelve a ser el mismo y con un horario normal.
So my routine has changed a little bit to dedicate more time to the work I do here in Colombia, which is sewing jeans, of course it's only these two months left because next year the rhythm will be the same again and with a normal schedule.
Historia de la costura en mi familia / History of sewing in my family
La costura es algo que tal vez debería llevar en la sangre ya que mi mamá ha pasado su vida entera realizando esta labor, que además lo hace muy bien y obviamente ama hacerlo, tanto que dice que no ve su vida haciendo algo diferente y mi papá también se ha dedicado a la costura muchos años de su vida, solo que él emprendió con su propio taller y hoy en día fabrica ropa para él vender y tiene a empleados que cosen esta ropa.
Sewing is something that perhaps should be in my blood since my mom has spent her entire life doing this work, which she also does very well and obviously loves doing it, so much so that she says she doesn't see her life doing something different and my dad has also dedicated many years of his life to sewing, only that he started with his own workshop and today he makes clothes for him to sell and has employees who sew these clothes.
Ahora bien, con un padre y una madre que siempre han dedicado su vida a la costura, crecí en medio de telas, hilos, agujas y jeans y cuando digo crecí, es literal, ya que pasaba la mitad del tiempo en la fabrica de mi papá e incluso me tocaba dormir a veces entre las telas, hasta que llegara la hora de ir a casa.
Now, with a father and mother who have always dedicated their lives to sewing, I grew up amidst fabrics, thread, needles and jeans and when I say grew up, it is literal, as I spent half my time in my dad's factory and even had to sleep between the fabrics sometimes, until it was time to go home.
Por lo que debería gustarme este arte, pero realmente no es así, aunque lo he aprendido porque creo que es necesario saber de todo un poco en la vida y no les niego que en cierto momento aprendí oblig loada, ya que mi mamá siempre me repetía que debía aprender aunque no me gustará, ya que si alguna vez no tenía trabajo podía desempeñar está labor en cualquier parte del mundo, pues fíjense, las madres siempre tienen razón, hoy en día parte del sustento de mi hogar es gracias a la costura.
So I should like this art, but I really do not, although I learned because I think it is necessary to know everything a little in life and do not deny that at one time I learned forced, because my mom always repeated that I should learn but I will not like, because if you ever had no work could perform this work anywhere in the world, because look, mothers are always right, today part of the livelihood of my home is thanks to the sewing.
La felicidad de mis padres / My parents' happiness
Por supuesto mis padres están muy felices de que yo siga sus pasos, mi madre porque se siente más tranquila, dice que sabe que me ha dado una gran regalo enseñándome su arte y mi padre muy satisfecho de ver que sigo sus pasos, pues así comenzó él, en otro país que no era el suyo y poco a poco fue creando lo que hoy en día tiene y mantiene la esperanza de que yo pueda hacer lo mismo.
Of course my parents are very happy for me to follow in their footsteps, my mother because she feels calmer, she says she knows she has given me a great gift by teaching me her art and my father is very satisfied to see that I follow in his footsteps, because that is how he started, in another country that was not his and little by little he created what he has today and maintains the hope that I can do the same.
Aunque no ame la costura de jeans, existen muchas ramas de este arte y particularmente me llama la atención confeccionar ropa de dama más suave, como blusas y vestidos, así que he pensado en comprar nuestras propias máquinas para comenzar poco a poco.
Although I don't love sewing jeans, there are many branches of this art and I am particularly attracted to making softer women's clothing, such as blouses and dresses, so I have thought about buying our own machines to start little by little.
Espero que pronto logremos esta próxima meta y sé que así será porque somos perseverantes, jóvenes, trabajadores y con muchas ganas de hacer cosas grandes. Al final sabemos que el cielo es el límite y que todo lo que deseamos de verdad, con un poco de esfuerzo y trabajo duro es posible.
I hope we will soon achieve this next goal and I know that we will because we are persevering, young, hardworking and eager to do great things. In the end we know that the sky is the limit and that everything we really want, with a little effort and hard work is possible.
