Vintage SkyRanch

Welcome to the 7th episode of our Nostalgic series. It is fun to work with old architecture like churches and old forts. It is easier to give a nostalgic vibe. Today let's do something different and see if we could turn back the clock on a modern-day amusement park.

Nostalgic Dreams

A series to try and replicate old photos from the past. A reimagining of some of my previous and future works, artificially turning back the clock and relive days gone by.

To make the timeline more convincing the theme should not include modern-day items or structures.
Erasing modern-day traces to give a more convincing look from the past.

On our previous vacation, we visited this popular amusement park. Modern-day thrill rides and amenities. I always wanted to visit an old amusement park but I think they no longer exist here in our country.

As I walked around I imagined what it felt like to be in an old amusement park. So I added a little nostalgia to some of the photos that I took. Adding scratches, changing the color but not editing the photos too much unlike on the previous episodes of the series.

Carousels always have that nostalgic feel to them and the designs are always vintage. I have also added the before and after photos for comparison. Somehow I feel that the photos that I edited are not convincing enough. Unlike if the subject is old pre-colonial Spanish churches. The people around the park are a challenge. I could not find a way to make them look as if they came from a different era.

There are so many subjects in the park and I ended up not going on rides. I just took some photos while my kids had fun. I think the photo below somehow works but it seems I may just have added too much dust on the photo. Again you could see modern-day people walking around which defeats our goal of nostalgia.

So many prizes but hard to win. I tried a couple and just ended up losing money.

One of the shots that doesn't show too much people except for the lovers on the lower left side of the photos. Will you be able to tell from which era is the photo without seeing the original photo? Will the airconditioned gondola from the Ferris wheel give it all away?

This ride looks old-fashioned and I think they had something like this in the past. Park rides today may be modern but still inspired by the old rides. Could the rides back then also have so many colors like the ones we have today?

I took away the colors on this photo and may have given it that old vibe that we want. What do you think?

This ends our time travel to this amusement park and I hope you liked my work.
