I think I like Riyadh. My Actifit Report Card: December 5 2023
I had tried to get myself out of the trip to Riyadh. Now I am glad I came. The city is too big, too modern and has no green areas. Yet I sort of like it. Perhaps it’s the people and the feeling of a safe place. Or perhaps the temperatures in low twenties with a light breeze make it pleasant.
Met a colleague today, a seasoned expat. We went to a local restaurant. Had a wonderfully delicious meal - some shareable appetizers, hummus, very rich salad and mint tea - and we paid a fraction of what it would cost in London. By my Polish standards bill of 20$ is not something that I do every night and wouldn’t call it cheap, but given the food we had, the place where we were - it was a surprisingly low price. I know places in my country which ask this much for potatoes and a piece of pork.
