Let me start by saying that @manuvert won’t be happy when scrolls to the end of this post…
The first part of my today’s hike was 8km uphill, with some 650m of total elevation gain. Time: 4hrs - which is not too bad given winter conditions.
Subzero temp, but sunny and windless allowed me to ascend without the jacket - only thermo layer and a warm blouse, also made of thermo-active materiel.
We reached our highest point at around 1pm. There was a possibility to add about 1hr to our route and get some hot food at a mountain hut. I was however against it, as I suspected the second part of the day might be challenging.
And a challenge it was. The weather worsened - it got colder and wind picked up. The worst was however threading in knee-deep snow. The trail wasn’t frequently used and we needed to plow thru the snow. 8km, descending, which normally should be done in 2,5hrs, took almost 5 hours and we reached our parking well after dark.
