Last week was one of my most busiest week in the whole year if I remember correctly and that would make it a very memorable one for me at least until another busy week comes. One thing that made last week busy and memorable for me was that I spent it helping a close friend turned sister.
To be of help to someone else may not always be easy but it has the positive effect like peace of mind and inner joy it gives to make you know you did something good. This week's prompt reminded me again of that feeling and I won't hold back to share all I can think of from last week.
Earlier last month, a member of the church I worship with, lost her father and it was agreed among the sisters to help comfort her and also show up for her when it was time for burial preparation. The lady even had to state it clear that she had only us to help her out with some main preparations so if we had failed her, the ceremony would have gone wrong.
We all agreed and I decided to join in when the day came to prepare the meals for the ceremony which was last week Friday as the D-day was Saturday. This may be hard to believe but if I remember clearly, it is my first time assisting in such an activity.
It was stressful, we had to sleep in, the heat didn't even let us sleep well for the two hours we had to sleep, we had to wake way too early to continue the cooking after sleeping very late. My main work was providing water for whatever they needed it for and also assist in making ingredients while the main cooks prepare the meals.
It was from one work to another until we were all set and ready for the main ceremony. Before that, I must comment that it wasn't boring working with the others, we laughed and had a lot of fun while doing the work.
There were the too hard working ones who couldn't laugh or talk much, there was the most active lady who couldn't stop talking but kept entertaining us while we work, there was the one who kept taking shots of our activities and making videos to keep memories, and there are the ones like me who just enjoyed the whole different activities and work alongside.
The ceremony ended successfully with a lot to eat and drink, and more for the workers to take home but the appreciation we got from our sister was everything. We could actually see how grateful she was for all we did for her. Even though what we did was priceless, I felt her smile while she thanked us was the priceless fee our hard work needed to be compensated.
Last week taught me more, it was interesting and I did a good act, it was definitely a week worth sharing and I'm glad this week's prompt has provided that forum for me.
