Coming back everyday from work was supposed to be an affordable luxury. Nothing beats going back home to some cozy apartment with electric power supply intact and constant with dinner ready and waiting to be devoured.
Imagine the hassle in just trying to find your way in the dark trying to prep dinner. It is so infuriating and sometimes frustrating. My neighbour doesn't even bother to cook anymore. She prefers to order noodles and chicken on her way back from work. In her own words, she would usually say ,”I can't come and kill myself”.
After the day'sales, I usually look forward to going home to relax, Netflix and chill alone with some food but sadly, nine ou of ten times, that hope often meets a brick wall.
In my locality, electric power supply is shared between communities and streets. Some have a one day power on with a one day power off ratio while others have theirs for two days on and off ratio.
According to the power holding company agents, they claimed that doing this was to lighten the load of our transformers which would indirectly prolong its lifespan and capacity of the transformers.
This has been going on for years and initially, the power supply was enjoyed as promised but later on, things took a bad turn.
Sometimes, we could stay for weeks without power supply. The annoying thing is when low current is supplied. That current can't even charge torchlights, phones and other gadgets. It is akin to a candle flame.
With all these torture, these power holding people still have the audacity to bring their exhorbitant monthly bills to us to make payments.
Now I'm asking just like every else, “where is the power supplied that warrants payment of bills?”. Failure to pay the bill would result in a disconnection of power supply from the main supply channels and no one wants that at all.
As I write this complaint, it has been 4 days without electricity in my street. I am frustrated with the way things are going but all I can do is whisper a prayer ”let there be light”.
