I love weekend visits from my family!
Before leaving Chicago on Saturday morning and driving to Wisconsin to spend the weekend with me, they stopped at a bakery in their neighborhood and bought 2 loaves of freshly baked bread
They arrived here as the sun was coming up and they made breakfast.
I think they know that crusty bread is a favorite of mine. I had never had truffle butter before. It was tasty, although on this hearty bread the truffle flavor was subtle.
Hearty seeded bread with truffle butter, guacamole, egg salad, sardines and dill pickles. An unexpected and unusual breakfast treat. Perfectly delightful with my morning cup of tea!
The guacamole was simple, Smashed avacodo with a bit of finely diced onion, some fresh cilantro, a squeeze of lime juice and a drop of hot sauce.
The egg salad only had chopped up hard boiled eggs mixed with mayonnaise. Since 
The best part is that they are coming back next weekend when the whole family will gather for our Thanksgiving celebration that we are having on Saturday! My son is cooking the turkey outdoors on the grill, my daughter is bringing mashed potatoes and is making pumpkin pie, I've been told I must make the biscuits, and my daughter-in-law, who loves to cook, is planning the rest of the menu. Sweet potatoes, salads, vegetables, stuffing, gravy. And who knows what else she will surprise us with. . It will be a feast, with enough leftovers for all of us that no one will have to cook for a week aftwards!
