Some say that the night is long and full of terrors. Not if you have a beer in your hand it isn't!!
Hurrah! Welcome to another Saturday night beer fight. I have two astonishing beers to taste tonight.
I blogged about the peculiarly enticing Plum Pudding Porter yesterday but I didn't mention the other zonking mad one I found!! A chocolate fudge brownie stout!?!
Madness, but damn tasty amazing sounding madness.
But the proof as they say, is in the pudding. So let us get stuck into these pudding beers starting with the fantastical PLUMS!!
A plum pudding porter. The mind boggles. It's from one of my favourite breweries, Wiper & True. They have mostly hit it out of the park. Can they do it again?
It's an inky purple black which one would expect with is claim of plumminess. It's a gassy one too, the head fizzing up like a white walrus out of an oil spill.
It's a good porter. It's malty, sooty, smokey and chocolatey. There is a good wallop of alcohol followed by a long lingering finish turning into a raisin-esque sweetness BUT...
WHERE ARE THE PLUMS!?
I mean. I'm not plum daft. But if I buy a shot of some plums then I expect plums. I am afraid the testicular porter will be marked down a point... 6.5/10 booms!
Ah, my hopes were riding high like a Badger in an elevator only to be cruelly dashed.
Can the next delight save me?
This one reminds me of when I first met the Good Lady. When I saw it, I knew I had to have it!
Fudge... Chocolate... Brownie. I mean what's not to like. I've popped seventeen boners just looking at it.
Let's get it out and in the glass!
Look at that, it's like a sleek and silky otter has curled up in there. Looking good Mr Otter! Fancy a jaunt into my mouth of madness?
What can I say, a genuine delight of a sweet and chocolatey stout. Fudgy, sticky and smooth. Perhaps it could have done with a little more boozy oomph but it was very pleasant. I shall give this a fine 8/10 booms! Hurrah!
Cheers everyone and have a great weekend!!
