Yesterday evening while surfing the net. His message alert tone beeped signalling the arrival of a new message. He was curious as to where the message is coming from, and what the content of the message was? His hands drifted rapidly to the message icon to unveil the content of the message. The content of the message was different from the ones he was getting. The message carried the gift of excitement and vibrancy which change the atmosphere of that evening.
He has been offered a teaching job at a mission school not far away from home- almost a twenty minutes drive. He was ecstatic...if you didn't know him you might think he is crazy. He was lost of words to explain this new found joy given to him by this message.
After so many applications submitted to different institutions, but none was successful. It seemed all his efforts was futile. The unprecedented rise in unemployment in the country has driven many to look for something worthwhile.
Early the next morning, bubbling with excitement, he made his way down to the school to finalize everything about his appointment. The school is a well known institution that have had greats walk its lawns and enscribe its name in history. You can say is a school known for producing the best of the best.
This posed a huge challenge to him owning to the fact that he was a novice to the tutoring world. No experience whatsoever.
After putting him through his paces about the regulations of the school. He was assigned to senior class one(SS1) to teach geography.
His first class was full of stories only him will live to tell later. He wished never to relive those memories again as he recounted the whole events of that day in his mind;
the students were happy to have another new face around. And When he started delivering his lesson for that day, the remaining ounce of confidence he had left in him. He kept stuttering, couldn't hold his expressive composure, he was known for and shied away from questions.
The students couldn't understand him at all. They kept murmuring and asking themselves questions they couldn't provide answers to. What is wrong with him? Are you sure he is a trained teacher? Others went further by saying, "he will not even last a day "
At that point of introspection, he found out that he has to find the magic wand to this job or kiss it goodbye!
