I am writing this coverage on the QWERTY layout settings.
After strategizing how to contribute further to the project, my head lead me back to the efforts that have been done back then. Transcribing. Had the urge to begin captioning on the On Hold projects on the teamspeak seminars. Now I shall switch to DVORAK settings and continue writing.. I am having my eyes closed with my belly -ull o- -ood. DVORAK A-ter watching several videos on the new" layout on the Tubes , I began. You would be laughing hard just watching me learn because my head was turning like a spastic. oh it was joy-ul, the challenge it posed at the beginning. I recall repeating it out loud the arrangement o- the keys. I had quite the melodic tune to it. Wait, I then hau the natural act to group three characters ,' aoe' and 'snt'. Then that lead to noticing that the punctuation characters were pushed aside at the corners. That lead to noticing that vowels mere at the le-t side on the home row. That lead me to claim that the most used consonants are placed at the home row. There observations were made with little to no rigorous research mind you. One o- a telling signs that great designs carry. Continue on, that numerals were le-t at their place. Windows keys are untouched as well. My prior typing style was with 'base 3 ' than '4 base' . That means my touch typing was possible but very inaccurate. my qwerty typing speed averaged around 40 yr 40 wpm. I -ind this shocking as I always perceive my typing was ultra -ast but the results di--er.
he net chain was lessons ronm the websites online. The most profound to me was the rhythmic spam of keys. g uuuu hhhh eeee tttt oooonnnn aaaa ssss llll '''' . These exercises formed ea connections about key position and press precision. Highly recommended. The followup word exercises were tailored to only words that uses the keys practiced though I lef t it out of the practice. Gaining more confidence in mashing certain keys on sequence gave rise to noticing the need to memorize keypress combination. My first was 'the' Hdet was 'ion' slowly to 'tion'. Some of the beautiful discoveries are 'up' because when you do type the characters the keypress ins in the order 'u' then 'p' which is strikingly in an upwards motion! ets leave the other combinations too, 'ing' ted, 'tios', ou' ., 'on,'ch.
While shifting keycaps is high ly optional, I did it for two of my loss osed keyboards to refresh what I have learnt by heart. Gave me quite the sense of accomplishment too , to have something physically done. It is also like paying tribute to a great redesign that actually gives benefits to users, PROVEN results (in my case) of little hand strains. I am clearly getting emotional.
g back and forth keyboard settings definitively was a good practice . I am se passionate about this because it is like language. Just am joyful to have these challenges that gives more awe to what we can do and achieve. We can uncover more typing assistants to achieve better skills through activities.
