Before I discovered ASMR, podcasting was one of the things that I go to catch some sleep. I would tune in NoAgenda was one of my favorite shows to listen to while catching my sleep. The voices of the hosts in the dark room will make it easy for me to start dreaming and such. I tried doing it last night, and I found out the news. Dvorak, one of the pillars and sometimes the most hilarious of the two hosts of the best podcast in the universe, has decided to check out of life.
About a couple of months ago, I heard the news that he had a heart attack, out of nowhere. The heart attack was mild, it was like a chest pain, he himself drove himself to the hospital and check in. The doctors checked him and confirm that he had one, and he went unto observation and recovery. And a few nights ago, it seems he was just watching TV with his wife already ok from the first one, but an unexpected one got him good.
If you never met John, the dude has been a legend on the tech scene. Tech journalism might not be as popular as sport journalism, politics or general entertainment. Dvorak however has been there since the birth of it. He has always been the force that also made us question what are we shown, going against our consumerism, and put a note to hold on! and wait, think, and then act upon that thought.
John nickname would be Buzzkill which means he would be some would say a negative force in a conversation. When everyone got super hyped, he would be the one that will throw you a bucket of ice and be like "yeah, but....". His famous quote was he going against the use of the mouse on computing, and throwing it in the garbage on his legendary column published on 1984 the San Francisco Examiner. He later worked for PC Magazine, ZDNet, TechTV, becoming the host of the legendary Tech Grouch and Cranky Geeks and TWiT and many more podcast. The dude was just an unstoppable force and kept himself busy all the way to his last day as he score more than 1000 shows on NoAgenda and another 800 shows on DH Unplugged.
I would say that John had my eyes and ears on the Tech and introduce me to the geopolitics of the world and business. He was an example for hard work and also incredible content that made me question everything around the world. I would encourage you to check his different interactions and hear from yourself the magic of JCD. With all that, said I would leave with the show dedicated to him and his family from the NoAgenda family. In The Morning!!
