This cannot be more Specialty! (The miracles of Niki + some coffee with extraordinary flavors)
When speaking about coffee and especially tasty coffee we cannot really complete the setup without some tasty sweets and desserts. Although I’m not that fond of sweet things I always appreciate the craftsmanship and attention to detail in the people behind tasty desserts.
Last week we went to the Specialty Place coffee shop in my hometown (what a sirprise! 😁) and had the opportunity to taste some of the miraculously special and tasty pastry of Niki, who is the girlfriend and co-owner of the place, alongside with the barista - Misho.
I am always impressed that in such a small city like mine they managed to build a place so special and hospitable. And while Misho takes care for the customers on the front, Niki works tirelessly in the back rooms, to deliver exquisite sweet products to all their clients. And last week being Easter, she have decided to make a quite extraordinary, yet very in-theme dessert for the celebrations - a sweet “Easter” egg!
Alongside with it you can see a velvet heart, which appeared on the Valentines’ day for the first time, but bow it is a permanent product in their shelves. We decided to try both of the desserts, although they were about $5 each. This is a bit expensive, but having in mind how much effort Niki gives when making them, it is in my opinion a reasonable price. After all you always have the Lemon cakes and various chocolate biscuits if you want to have something cheaper and yet delicious.
At our visit we also managed to try a very extraordinary coffee! Misho always have some interesting coffee that can offer his special customers and we are happy to be a part of the group!
This particular coffee was from Kenya and it was wash processed and it’s nothing so extraordinary so far… but! Take a look on the taste profile! Vine tomato, blackcurrant and lime.
Wow, have you ever heard of coffee to has tomato flavor nuances? Well, of course the tomato is a fruit after all, but it is most commonly used in salad and main dishes and its sour-sweet flavor cannot be related with desserts and coffee.
I was surprised to find exactly tomato notes when smeling the beans in the bag! And when Misho brew us a V60(he didn’t take any money from us for that again!) it was a very enjoyable tasting coffee. It had a bit of sweetness, and tomato flavor worked quite well in combination with black fruits. I bet that bit everyone will like such a coffee, but my passion about weird and different coffees made me like this a lot.
And now let’s see the desserts!
The egg base was made of beautiful chocolate and nut mousse, while the center was from espresso infused creme! Its sweetness was not that intense and the looks were brilliant!
The heart… oh, that velvet heart. It had 4 different layers in it and the flavor is more fruitful and jammy. It is more like a cake, while the egg was like a mousse. Really reminds of these red celvet cakes, but more special. It was a bit more sweet and if I eat one whole piece, it would probably be too much for me. Still - beautiful and exquisite.
And for kids? Well, they had some ice creams and cakes to play with! 😁
Niki told us that they put this table in the place just for decoration, but it is really an interesting spot for the kids to play on. The toys are hand made knitted and represent the soul of the place really well. Although it is a bit difficult to be in such a place woth all our kids and still enjoy your coffee peacefully, we may go there some time again together.
That’s for now! Wish you a great weekend.
Stay positive and enjoy your beautiful cup of coffee!
Bye!
