Saturdays are my favorite days, especially when I am not working. 😁 Usually I and my wife tend to visit the Specialty Coffee shop in out city and enjoy a cup of good coffee in the company of our friend barista - Misho.
As the temperatures are rising and the summer is approaching, it is finally time to try something more appropriate for the season. And while I am more of a traditional black coffee lover, my wife likes to try dofferent flavors. When she asked Misho what to choose, he explained that he will try to surprise her.
After about three minutes she had her Coffee and Tonic cocktail. The weird thing here was that Misho used Tonic with cucumber flavor to make the drink. The presentation was brilliant… you can see the clear tonic on the bottom and the espresso shot on the upper side. I also tried this and to be honest… it was a bit strange with the cucumber flavor. Still, it was very refreshing.
My choice was also… a surprise. A bit more minutes later I received my order too. A flash cooled filter coffee!
I just love the cold filter coffee during the warm temperatures. The light flavor which filter brings out of the tasty arabica beans is one of my top picks fir the summer. My drinks are always with a ton of ice, as I like almost freezing drinks.
Have to say… it was one of the finest monebts during the day. And because out coffee at home is decreasing in rapid pace, I decided to pick a bag of beans. I was quite surprised to find this coffee from Uganda!

Uganda has never been a particularly favorable place for a coffee grower, yet with increasing attention and investment, the supply of quality beans in the African country is also increasing. A rare treat.

As I think about this, I am quite sure that this is the first time I buy coffee from Uganda. The country is not a famous coffee producer, but maybe in the last years, with the Specialty Coffee movement the number of farmers there is increasing. And because this coffee is relatively expensive one, I think their farmer work is worth the effort.
The beans are looking fine, light roasted… perfect for filter brewing. I am wondering how much of the promised Nectarine, Cola and Passion Fruit flavors will these beans carry. Straight out of the bag they bring a lot of fresh fruitful aromas.
Brewing them with anout 90-92 degrees water. Always a good choice for lighter roasted beans. In three and a half minutes, the coffee must be ready.
Time to try!
I was a bit surprised that for a country with no coffee growing legacy the coffee was surprisingly tasty. And surely, there was a bit of cola vibe, accompanying the tropical fruit company.
Good job of the Crooked Nose man, for finding this coffee and an amazing work of the farmers from Uganda! Definitely gonna try their coffee again, if I find some anywhere in my preferred coffee shops.
