Eras la llama mordiendo la noche.

Yo, el vino derramado
Sobre tu piel.
Ahora las cenizas por nosotros hablan:
Cafés fríos en tazas agrietadas,
Sábanas repitiendo pliegues sin prisa,
Silencios navegando como barcos viejos
Rumbo a puertos inexistentes.

Recuerdo tus uñas clavando auroras

En mi espalda,
Aquella tormenta donde fuimos dioses;
El sofá era un mar,
El reloj se ahogaba...
¡El mundo entero cabía
Debajo de nuestras almohadas!

El espejo, irreverente,

Nos devuelve mapas extraños:
Arrugas como ríos
Con sus secos causes ;
Miradas esquivando
El vértigo de antaño,
¿Dónde lo guardamos, amor?,
¿En cuál cajón
Lo dejamos olvidado?
¿Entre viejos papeles
Y el polvo de la desmemoria?

Hoy, cuando al pasar, rocé tu mano,

Sentí el eco de aquella guitarra
Y sus arpegios
En la cálida noche santiaguera,
—Cuando la luna era solo una adivinanza
Y bailábamos sobre ascuas de deseo—.
No fue un trueno, fue un musgo:
Algo lento, verde, terco,
Trepando entre las grietas
De mis huesos...

Somos dos raíces

Que se creyeron muertas,
Pero la lluvia nos renovó la savia.
Ya no hace falta incendiar sábanas:
Basta este hilo de voz
Compartiendo sonrisas,
Esta complicidad
De sugerentes silencios,
Este pan repartido sin mirarnos,
Sabiendo cómo las migajas caen
Siempre del mismo lado...

You were the flame biting the night.

I, the wine spilled
On your skin.
Now the ashes speak for us:
Cold coffees in cracked cups,
Sheets repeating unhurried folds,
Silences sailing like old ships
Bound for non-existent ports.

I remember your nails

Digging auroras into my back,
That storm where we were gods;
The sofa was a sea,
The clock was drowning...
The whole world fit
Under our pillows!

The mirror, irreverent,

Gives us back strange maps:
Wrinkles like rivers
wWith their dry causes;
Glances dodging
The vertigo of yesteryear.
Where do we keep it, love?
In which drawer do
We leave it forgotten?
Among old papers,
And the dust of forgetfulness?

Today, when passing by,

I brushed your hand,
I felt the echo of that guitar
And its arpeggios
In the warm night of Santiago,
-When the moon was only a riddle
And we danced on embers of desire.
It was not thunder,
It was moss:
Something slow,
Green, stubborn,
Climbing between the crevices
Of my bones...

We are two roots that thought

We were dead
But the rain renewed our sap.
We no longer need
To set fire to sheets:
This thread of voice
Sharing smiles is enough,
This complicity of suggestive silences,
This bread shared without
Looking at each other,
Knowing how the crumbs
Always fall
On the same side...
