βParenthood is full of unexpected moments.
β
βBut nothing quite prepares you for the fear that hits when your little one is unwell.
β
βThatβs exactly what we went through one night, and itβs a memory Iβll never forget.
β
βIt started that morning with a simple cold and cough.
β
βI thought it was just a regular bug, but by the afternoon, something felt off.
β
βI counted Aidenβs breaths, and it was 70 inhales and exhales in just one minute. π₯²
β
βI knew this wasnβt normal. These were symptoms I couldnβt ignore.
β
βI quickly called my dad to ask if the van was available, and thankfully, it was.
β
βBy 9 pm, we were on our way to the emergency hospital.
β
β
βThe ER was as busy as ever, filled with people dealing with all kinds of struggles.
β
βSome got into accidents, some are in pain, and other illnesses.
β
βBut even in the chaos, the nurse wasted no time assisting us.
β
βShe asked every detail about what had happened and what weβd noticed, then checked Aiden right away.
β
βAfter examining him, the doctor said it might be asthma. They gave us two choices... admit him, or buy nebulizer medicine and give him three treatments there, then monitor his breathing.
β
βWe opted for the treatments.
β
βSo hubby and dad rushed to the nearest drug store to get what we needed.
β
β
βThe nurse showed us how to use the nebulizer, and we started the session.
β
β
βAiden hated it. He was fussy, irritated, and clearly uncomfortable.
β
βI did everything I could to calm him... breastfed him, let him play on my phone, and put on YouTube Kids.
β
β
βFor a little while, heβd be distracted, but by the last treatment, he was crying nonstop. π’
β
βHe also turned red, and I could tell he had a fever coming on.
β
βAfter the three treatments, his breathing still wasnβt back to normal. π₯Ή
β
βThe doctor came back and repeated the choice... admit him or take him home with prescribed medicine.
β
βAiden was so uneasy in the hospital, so we decided to bring him home.
β
βWe just bought the antibiotics, cetirizine, and salbutamol for the nebulizer and went home.
β
β
βOn the way home, Aiden fell asleep, and slowly, his breathing started to return to normal. π
β
βWe got home at 1 am, exhausted but relieved.
β
βAll we could do was pray that heβd keep getting better.
β
βIt was a long, scary night, but seeing him rest and recover made everything worth it.
β
βAs parents, weβd do anything to take away our kidsβ pain. π₯Ί
β
βAnd this night reminded me to be strong especially at a time when they needed us the most.
β
βThanks for the visit! Have a lovely day. Buh-bye. ππΈ
