Passing Faith on to your children//Mcgi Topic review (part 2)
Greetings everyone, and welcome to my blog. Today is another wonderful opportunity to listen to the Word of God as taught by His servant, Bro. Eli Soriano.
In the Old Testament, eating pork was regarded as an abomination for the Israelites. However, this command should be understood within its historical and spiritual context. When Jesus Christ came, He introduced teachings that brought spiritual purification and a new perspective—truths that the apostle Paul later affirmed in his writings.
In 1 Timothy 4:4, Paul explains: “For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving.” He further teaches that all food is sanctified by the Word of God and prayer. This indicates that the original permission granted to Adam, Eve, Noah, and Noah’s family remained in effect until God later gave specific and temporary dietary laws to the Israelites.
It is also important to remember that the Israelites lived in Egypt for about 430 years before receiving the Law of Moses. During that time, they ate the same foods as the Egyptians. Since the Egyptians did not observe God’s dietary restrictions, pork was commonly consumed, and the Israelites, living among them, also ate these foods.
When God delivered Israel from Pharaoh and guided them toward the Promised Land, He gave them detailed laws, including rules about food. One of these laws instructed them not to eat pork or the flesh of swine.
Later, the apostle Paul clarified that these regulations were temporary and were meant to last only until the “time of reformation,” which came with Jesus Christ. When Christ arrived, He declared all foods clean and removed the ceremonial restrictions that once applied to Israel. Paul consistently taught and supported this message in his ministry.
Jesus Christ taught that everything created by God is good and should not be rejected when it is received with gratitude.
In conclusion, the era of Moses and its ceremonial laws has passed. Salvation is no longer obtained through the Law of Moses but through the grace of Jesus Christ. Therefore, for Christians today, the teachings of Christ do not prohibit the eating of pork.
Thanks for reading.
