When we study the bible they is many teachings about the food we eat both in the new and old testament. In the Old Testament, God instructed the Israelites not to eat pork because the pig was considered an unclean animal according to the Law of Moses. This command was part of the dietary laws given to the nation of Israel to keep them separate and holy before God.
In the New Testament, many Christians believe that through Jesus Christ, believers are no longer under the Old Testament ceremonial food laws. The bible teaches us that God focus on how good our heart looks but not what we consume. Because of this, many Christians today believe eating pork is allowed if it is done with thanksgiving and without causing others to stumble in faith.
“Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.” Acts 10:15
