Un día recibí una llamada, era mi amiga Maritza de medias rosadas, había llegado a su veterinaria, un animal con deterioro en sus patas. Al parecer la mamá había sido exterminada, muchos dicen que las zarigüeyas son malas, en realidad son una especie importante, porque esparcen semillas por todas partes.

Los animales que comen frutos, dejan las semillas en el suelo fecundo, otras tantas veces salen por las excretas y junto con la lluvia llega la sorpresa. Entonces estas semillas, empiezan a crecer con armonía, tras unos años habrá árboles nuevos, que serán sombra y alimento para otros seres bellos. También controlan otros animales, como ratones e insectos grandes, si no quieres cucarachas en casa, deja vivir a los marsupiales en su hábitat.

Las mamás zarigüeyas, cargan a sus hijos en una bolsa que no se observa, se llama marsupio y es abrigado como ninguno. Cuando los hijos progresan, no los deja abandonados sin cautela, los lleva unos meses sobre ella, para salvaguardar su existencia.

Por eso las Zarigüeyas son impresionantes, pero la que llegó aquel día tenía dificultades, sería una presa fácil, para cualquier animal que tuviera hambre. Por eso lo lleve a casa, lo alimente con aguacates y frutas variadas, también trozos de pollo cocinado y le llene de ramas el patio. Su salud se degeneró, cada vez caminaba peor, calcio y suplementos se le dio, pero mejoría no mostró. Empezó a toser, le hicimos terapias para que estuviera bien, pero ella no presentaba recuperación y unos días después murió.

Tras conocer a don Zarigüeyo, aprendí mucho sobre su comportamiento, se hacen las muertas cuando en peligro se encuentran y en su cola rosa tienen mucha fuerza. Otro método de defensa, es orinarse y hacer popo sin cautela, este tiene un horrible olor, que espantará a cualquier depredador. Tienen una mandíbula muy fuerte, que puede comer huesos crueles, incluso son carroñeros, es decir comen animales muertos. Algunos piensan que son feas, pero son animales con buena presencia, además salen en la noche, así que no las encontrará en el día en el monte.
