Some time ago I was in a family party and there were roughly 70 people from children to the elderly. Food menu was quite simple, there was some different salads, potatoes, other side dishes and a smoked pork. I thought that the menu is quite simple but to me it sounded great.
The dinner time was coming soon and they were starting to put tables ready. I was wondering where is the promised pork because all tables were full of salads and other dishes. I didn’t have to ask anything because what I saw next was answering all my questions. Two big men was carrying the stretcher and under the cloth was something. It was a whole smoked pork which was roughly 70kg.
Like many other guests, I haven’t seen anything like that before. I couldn’t guess that some of the people started to feel uncomfortable and a couple of women began to cry. In that moment, I realized that people don’t remember where the meat is actually coming from. When you buy meat from the supermarket, the meat is always packed in a box and you don’t see the animal behind it.
After all it was an amazing meal. The smoked pork was delicious and the meat was probably the best that I have tasted so far. I hope I’ll have a chance to attend that kind of a party again.
