18 September 2026, Freewriters Community Daily Writing Prompt Day 3230: don’t take my photograph

Don't take my picture... Don't take my picture, that's what my sister would say every time we were together. She never wanted me to take pictures, and I respected her wishes. The photos I didn't take at the right moment are what I miss today. They hurt because that opportunity will never come again. There won't be another visit, another conversation, another hug, another time spent with my sister. Life took its course. My sister is no longer in this earthly world, and I'm left with a flood of memories. I understand that those moments shared with her weren't just moments; they were memories, history, refuges that I hesitated to capture with a camera so they would remain forever, not only in my heart but also preserved in my photographs, to keep her presence etched in my soul, to see her whenever I miss her.

No me tomes fotografías eso decia mi hermana cada vez que estábamos juntas , nunca quería que yo tomara fotos y yo respetaba su pensar, las fotos que no tomé en el momento justo hoy extraño, hoy me duelen, porque esa oportunidad no se me vuelve a presentar, no habrá otra visita, otra conversa, otro abrazo, otro compartir con mi hermana, la vida se encargó de hacer lo suyo, mi hermana ya no está en este mundo terrenal y yo quede inundada de recuerdos en mi mente, entendiendo que esos momentos compartidos con ella no eran solo momentos, eran memoria, historia, refugios que me cohibí en captar en una cámara para que se quedara para siempre no solo en mi corazón sino también plasmada en mis fotografías para el recuerdo para sostener su presencia grabada en mi alma, verla cada vez que la extrañe.
