I have been a student of monetary history since around 2002 when I bought my fist gold coins following the dot.com bust and the events on September 11, 2001. With the advent of the internet I was able to do my homework by following free market and sound money websites like www.mises.org and investing in books that taught me a great deal that mainstream publications and media sources did not at the time.
Ironically one of the most important pieces of literature for me was a short article published in one of the several gold/silver websites at the time entitled "Gold and Economic Freedom" http://www.constitution.org/mon/greenspan_gold.htm by Alan Greenspan, former chairman of the Federal Reserve System. His essay was written in 1966 before he was lured by the globalists to work for them first as the Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers for the Ford administration and then as chairman of the Federal Reserve Board from 1987 to 2006. In "Gold and Economic Freedom" Greenspan explain how statists hate gold and sound money as it disciplines politicians and hampers their spendthrift schemes to buy votes from the general public. Fiat money, on the other hand, is a scheme where the political class and the bankers benefit while the general public becomes more and more indebted.
Is it any wonder that ,since the early 1970s when President Nixon "temporarily" closed the gold window and took the world off the gold standard, national debts and big governments in the West have become so entrenched, unsustainable and accepted?

What the financial/political establishment do not seem to understand is the the genie is out of the bottle and the rising popularity of crypto currencies is a symptom of the disenchantment, of the awoken minority, with the fiat money system based on ever growing debt, wealth inequality, government and taxation in order to sustain a few thousand bigwigs in government and Wall Street. Bitcoin and crypto currencies might be getting ahead of themselves but and even though some of the alt coins have and will end up being worthless in the future the sector is not creating a web of fiat money debt.
So when the Washington Post publishes an article by Professor Campbell R. Harvey of Duke University that was entitled “Bitcoin is big. But fedcoin is bigger." https://www.silverdoctors.com/headlines/world-news/washington-post-says-that-fedcoin-will-be-bigger-than-bitcoin/ it just goes to show how out of touch with reality the establishment is and why crypto currencies based on fiat money are doomed to fail.
