Right or Wrong Decision????

Hey Steemians,
I would be sharing what I am undergoing at the current moment and I can’t believe it when I decided to take this step to quit my job as a seafarer which I have been going through for the past 6 years and decided to go back to a student life once again at the age of 33. Taking this decision was a big question for me, as to whether my decision was right or wrong.

Left for vacation from Disney Wonder on 10 November 2016, and took up IELTS on 12 December 2016, which all international students like me must take, to go overseas to study. So, after attending classes for less than 3 weeks, I managed to score an overall band of 7.0 in my IELTS, which I was very relieved because I was thinking that I might not be even able to get that kind of score after stopping my studies for about 6 years.

First of all, after I got the required score for my IELTS, I made a_ big mistake in selecting a good education counselors who could guide me_ and not much counselors would be willing to take my case due to 6 years education gap and those who did, would misguide me due to lack of experience, the education counselor time didn’t listen to my interest of study field I wanted to apply and instead misguided me by saying that I would not be able to get visa for that field as I do not have the required knowledge nor job experience on that field. Thinking they were the expert, took their advice and followed them blindly. That was my first mistake.

Secondly when I told them if I can apply for 2-3 universities at the same time so that whichever university accepts me, I can go for that for a faster process as my choice of universities all provided the same course that I wanted. But instead of letting me apply few universities at the same time, the counselor told me let’s do one at the time so it will be easier and I would not be confused when they call me for interview.

Isn’t that supposed to be my problem if I get confused, when I am paying them, shouldn’t they give me a proper advice instead of misleading me???

I know few of you must be thinking that what the counselor told me could be for my own good but I realize it wasn’t when I changed another education counselor as they wasted a lot of my precious time. I got to know how much of my time was wasted due to the first counselor and how they had misguided me due to their incapability.

If you were in my shoes, how would you have felt? You resign your good paying job and take a decision which you were uncertain of and on top of that, the counselor is not even helping you the way that they should. November – February (4 months) time flew and still nothing, I was already in the mode of depression……..
