Living with a teenager at home is almost as chaotic as when they were newborns and you didn't know how to deal with your concerns in totally new situations.
I haven't been the exception. Adolescence came into my house in the middle of the pandemic, which ended up dooming the breeding ground in my son's head, who despite not being a streetwise boy, felt very bad about having to study online and not being able to go out when he felt like it, even if it was to eat an ice cream.
In fact, from then on he took refuge in the internet, became a fan of anime, changed his sleep schedule (something we are still fighting to return to normal or achieve balance) and his "bipolar" mood is our daily bread.
And although I try to give him space and not be an imposing mother, there are things that simply cannot be negotiated, such as responsibility. Being the mother of two boys, I consider that maintaining the power of the word given is something that is not out of fashion or should be seen as an "old-fashioned issue", so in every small action I instill in them how important it is to be responsible not only for their actions, but for their life in general.
The one in the photos is my older son, waiting for the bus that takes him to the technical school where he studies. I see him from the window, to give him security and also to feel calm to see that nothing happens to him while he waits. It has been difficult to stop being the mother hen, but I understand that I must let him go and starting there has helped us both.
Despite the cold and the lack of sun (at that time it would already be 7 am), my not so little boy goes out to fulfill his duties as a student, and although he often complains, the seed of responsibility is already bearing fruit.
