Although with that title it probably seems that this post should be in another community, I think that more than one single or divorced mother will feel identified.

They always tell us about the evolutionary processes of children, and how at a certain age, they develop "complexes" that will help them define what in their future life will be fundamental for the development of their personality and the way they relate to the opposite sex.

The names of Oedipus and Electra, for those who do not know them from the Greek tragedies they starred in, jump out of the mouths of specialists and even grandmothers repeat it by inertia, when one of our children expresses an excessive love towards one of their parents.

So called because it represents the love that is generated in children between 3 and 6 years old towards their mother or father, and that is "normal" as long as it is to the parent of the opposite sex. So boys should develop the Oedipus complex, by "falling in love" with their mother, and girls the Electra complex towards their fathers.

In my case, I have two "Oedipuses" at home! Because it turns out that despite the age difference, they both have an obsessive fixation on me.

With the older one, it was a laughing matter to see how he fought with his dad when he was 5 or 6 years old, because he said that I was "his woman", and that therefore, my partner should stay away from me (at least in his presence).

Now with adolescence is another matter, because although he is debating between being independent and rebellious, he always ends up like a little lamb looking for mom's arms, asking for affection.

So far so good, in fact, I like that he is not a detached youngster, but there is the presence of his little brother, who is coming out of his "falling in love" process and needs to mark his territory.

So I walk like "Doña Flor and her two husbands", between two boyfriends not wanted, but loved with madness, with mother's love, obviously.

Sometimes they argue and try to make me choose one of them as the one I love the most, and although they are different loves, I love them both for who they are, and what they represent in my life.

And why do I say different, because let's be clear, among children there is always a favorite, or one with whom you have more connection than another.

In my case, my oldest son has an extra burden, not only because he is my first, but because he came into my life during the mourning of the loss of my dad, and I think I poured into him all the love and care that I developed out of the fear of losing someone I loved.

The second is the closing of my cycle of motherhood, he is my grounding cable, and at times, my adored torment, because he does not stop talking and jumping all day long. I love him for being so noble, original and witty. I love him no less than the other, but they are different loves, both at the same level.

In previous posts, I have commented that I am happily separated since very recently, and this new stage has represented at home, changes not only in routines, but also in mentalities and behaviors.

Now my older son feels like the "alpha male" of the herd and the little one is also looking for his space in the house, as a worthy male representative.

Sometimes, I tell them that I am going to start looking for a new love, to which both of them refuse ipso facto. I do it just to see their reactions, since I am really enjoying a bachelorhood that I haven't experienced for 15 years.

Mom, ¿Why we cant´t get married?

It is laughable how Abraham (the oldest) seems to be my dad, because he tells me "you can't have a boyfriend, because you don't have my permission" and things like that. I can see that the second stage of the Oedipus complex is still a bit behind in him, who in the street, when he sees that I am being watched, he grabs my hand (a possible boyfriend scarer, then!).

Fabrizzio, the smallest one, simply won't let me go out alone. And it's not that I want to do it to meet someone in particular, but it's hard for me to go out anywhere but work without his company.

Sometimes I compare it to those little dogs, that when they see their master getting ready to go out, at once they look for the chain as a sign that they want to go out too.

Wherever he has to run an errand, he is already getting ready with the respective "I'm going too".

That is why now both of them have become "boyfriend scares" for me, because although I am not interested in having a partner at the moment, I am a little disturbed by the idea that they are so possessive of me.

Perhaps, later on, when I feel emotionally prepared to assume a new life as a couple, I will have to tame this pair of gallants, or failing that, fall in love with a circus tamer, so that they are allowed to enter my house and my life without any setbacks.
