Can any of you conceive of being a participant of this platform without having internet?

It sounds quite complex, but in some situations it often happens that, being inspired, with a good run, your reputation on the rise, the service simply fails. And I am not only talking about the case of many Venezuelan colleagues who do a lot to stay afloat here, also in other places of the planet it fails, maybe not so often, but when it does, you have to wait.

In my case, I have had to take a deep breath these last few days. With a pretty strong emotional crisis, product of a necessary separation but quite run over by moments of immaturity and little tolerance, the feeling of being alone rowing in the middle of a tsunami, the distance from my family and a list of depressing items, the icing on the cake has been that I have been left without internet.

mala_racha.png

Here in Argentina we had a census on May 18, the least indicated day for the day it fell, a Wednesday, in which almost the whole country was forcibly paralyzed to count its population. Just that day my internet decided to leave, without the possibility of a timely claim, with the resources used mostly by those who were doing the respective work...

operadora.png

On Thursday I made the claim, they told me they would come within 48 hours to check the breakdown, but I think the technicians went to eat the asadito of the weekend with my signal, and by the way they didn't like it, because they showed up a week later, while they only told me "the claim has been processed, you have to wait until they go to check" (things of Latin America!).

Meanwhile, I was looking for a way to get ahead at work, writing my ideas on the computer, waiting only for the service to be reconnected. So the folder of my documents was filling up with ideas, stories, and even an agenda of topics to share.

My desperation reached the extreme, being a journalist, I know what it is to work under presure to share every day the information, and although my work in person, plus the chores at home, do not allow me to publish as often as I would like, having accumulated material overflowed me.

desperate.png

So Sunday's walk with my little ones had a double intention: to go out with my children to eat something outside the house and to look for a free signal to be able to publish.

Abraham, my oldest son, looked at me like I was crazy when, at one of the tables of a fast food place that has free wifi, I took out my laptop, cell phone and power cords, and set up as if it were my office.

trabajando_en_kfc.png

In his head, he couldn't process how mom, on a Sunday afternoon and out of the house, was doing such a thing! But yes, there I was scheduling my post to start the week, and why not?

I believe that when you want things to happen, you should look for a way to make them happen and not just idealize them and wait for a fairy to come to give life to your dream. I may have been exposed to being robbed of everything when I left, but I fulfilled my need to be present on the platform.

I remember from my student days, when I failed to deliver a report on time, due to a malfunction in the video editing room, and my teacher says to me, what would you have done if that was scheduled to be transmitted today? To which I answered, if that had been the situation, I would surely have had a technical support team or, failing that, the monetary resources to rent another editing room. I believe that this security was what saved my skin.

So I don't believe in excuses, not 100%, because you can always turn the situation around, maybe not at the same moment, but as they say "no evil lasts 100 years", although I have thought that some of them will probably reach 99 and a half.

And if sometime in the future I´ll have to wait for so long for the technicians, I'll look for free signals, load the data from my phone to use it as a router, or bother my trusted friends for the necessary minutes to give continuity to my work around here.

So, will it be possible to work in ecency without internet? I would say yes, a little slower, but perhaps with more intention and care. The idea is not to give up and continue despite the adversities, taking into account the advice of those who have more time and working better on the topics we want to share.

Sometimes we go crazy and forget the quality in favor of journalism, that happens in all media, so I think that before panicking, let's evaluate what we can do to make our content much more valuable for our readers, and look for the tools that allow us to return to the arena with everything.
