Hello friends of Hive Gaming! Although I'm not very assiduous to video games and I only play some from time to time, it really makes me feel good, it's an activity that disconnects me from everyday life and that I enjoy since I had my first console, so today I want to tell you how was my first experience with video games when I was a child.
¡Hola amigos de Hive Gaming! Aunque no soy muy asidua a los videojuegos y solo juego algunos de vez en cuando, de verdad me hace sentir bien, es una actividad que me desconecta de la cotidianidad y que disfruto desde que tuve mi primera consola, así que el día de hoy quiero contarles como fue mi primera experiencia con los videojuegos cuando era una niña.
I was six years old, I remember it was December and I was looking forward to Christmas day to see my precious gift under the tree, I think it's important to clarify that in my country, although children believe in Santa Claus, they generally believe that the one who brings their gifts is the baby Jesus (it's a beautiful tradition and childish belief) So there I was, looking at my Christmas tree with illusion that Christmas Eve, waiting for the moment while contemplating the letter I had written with my request in clumsy strokes, until my parents ordered me to go to bed because the baby Jesus would not come while I was awake.
Yo tenía seis años, recuerdo que era diciembre y esperaba con ansias el día de navidad para ver mi preciado regalo debajo del árbol, creo que es importante aclarar que en mi país, si bien los niños creen en Santa Claus, generalmente creen que quien trae sus regalos es el niño Jesús (es una bellísima tradición y creencia infantil) Así que ahí estaba yo, mirando mi árbol de navidad con ilusión esa noche buena, esperando el momento mientras contemplaba la carta que había redactado con mi petición mediante trazos torpes, hasta que mis padres me ordenaron ir a la cama porque el niño Jesús no vendría mientras yo estuviese despierta.
But the next day as soon as I opened my eyes I ran to the tree and sure enough there was my present. I sat on the floor while I was removing the wrapping paper with my heart beating a thousand per hour and when I removed the paper completely I could see that indeed the baby Jesus had brought me what I asked for in the letter, the Nintendo NES console, which had games built in, it came with two controllers and a gun (which was also a controller) haha I know, this happened soooo many years ago.
Pero al día siguiente en cuanto abrí mis ojos corrí hacia el árbol y efectivamente ahí estaba mi regalo. Me senté en el piso mientras me dedicaba a quitar el papel de regalo con el corazón latiendo a mil por hora y cuando retiré el papel por completo pude ver que efectivamente el niño Jesús me había traído lo que le pedí en la carta, la consola Nintendo NES, la cuál traía juegos incorporados, venía con dos controles y una pistola (que también era una control) jaja lo sé, esto pasó hace muuuuuuchos años.
My dad hooked up the console and I learned to use it almost immediately, I remember that it had a lot of games built in and that was a novelty for that time, as I didn't need to use a cassette with games on it. But my favourites were Battle City, Circus, Contra, Bomber Man and of course the star of the show, Mario Bros.
Mi papá la conectó y aprendí a usarla casi enseguida, recuerdo que tenía muchísimos juegos incorporados y eso era toda una novedad para esa época, ya que no tenía la necesidad de usar un casette con juegos. Pero mis favoritos eran Battle City, Circus, Contra, Bomber Man y desde luego la estrella, Mario Bros.
I used to invite my friends and cousins over for long periods of fun in front of the TV, and I also remember that my cousins loved two games in particular that required the use of the gun-shaped controller, a cowboy game where you had to duel an opponent, and another where you were a duck hunter, which I hated because when I missed the shots, a dog would always appear to taunt me.
Yo invitaba a mis amigos y a mis primos a casa para que pasáramos largos ratos de diversión frente al televisor, y también recuerdo que mis primos amaban dos juegos en particular que requerían del uso del control en forma de pistola, era uno de vaqueros, donde debías batirte a duelo con un contrincante, y otro donde eras un cazador de patos, yo lo odiaba porque cuando erraba los disparos siempre aparecía un perro para burlarse de mí.
I also remember that as I was very little, obviously my parents put a time limit on how long I could play, something that frustrated me because it prevented me from rescuing the princess from the Mario Bros game, I know it's something easy to do, but it was very difficult for a six year old girl to achieve the goal through 8 levels that in turn had sub levels and a time limit, but once I discovered that my mum had become obsessed with the game haha, yes, just as you read it! I got up in the wee hours of the morning to go to the bathroom and then I heard the sound of the TV and when I looked out, I saw my mum with the controller in her hands and staring at the TV while trying to beat Bowser haha, it was something like this.
También recuerdo que como yo era muy pequeña, obviamente mis padres me ponían un límite de tiempo para jugar, algo que me frustraba porque eso me impedía rescatar a la princesa del juego Mario Bros, sé que es algo fácil de hacer, pero era algo muy difícil para una niña de seis años lograr el objetivo a través de 8 níveles que a su vez contaban con subníveles y un límite de tiempo, pero una vez descubrí que mi mamá se había obsesionado con el juego jaja, ¡Sí, así como lo leen! Me levanté de madrugada para ir al baño y entonces escuché el ruido del televisor y cuando me asomé, vi a mi mamá con el control en la mano y la mirada fija en el televisor mientras intentaba derrotar a Bowser jaja, fue algo como ésto.
Another thing I remember is that before I had the console, my dad used to come home very tired from work and travel (because he worked in another city), so he didn't feel like playing with me obviously, although sometimes, despite his tiredness he did, but since I had the console I spent good times with him in front of the TV playing a street fighting game, but although I had a lot of fun playing with him, sometimes I cried with rage when he threw me down the gutter haha.
Otra de las cosas que recuerdo es que antes de que yo tuviera la consola, mi papá solía llegar a casa muy cansado del trabajo y del viaje (porque trabajaba en otra ciudad), por lo tanto no tenía ganas de jugar conmigo obviamente, aunque a veces, a pesar de su cansancio lo hacía, pero desde que tuve la consola pasé buenos momentos con él frente al televisor jugando un juego de peleas callejeras, pero aunque me divertía mucho jugando con él, a veces lloraba de rabia cuando él me arrojaba por la alcantarilla jaja.
I can only tell you, friends, that I had a very pleasant experience with video games, not only did my mum and I have a lot of fun playing them, but it helped me to develop logical skills with some of the games and to get even closer to my dad, as I didn't spend that much time with him because he was working. Now as an adult, when I look at these games, it brings back great childhood memories and that makes me feel good.
Solo les puedo decir, amigos, que viví una muy grata experiencia con los videosjuegos, no solo mi mamá y yo nos divertimos mucho jugando, sino que me ayudó a desarrollar habilidades lógicas con algunos de los juegos y a estrechar todavía más los lazos con mi papá, ya que no pasaba tanto tiempo con él porque estaba trabajando. Ahora de adulta, cuando miro estos juegos, me trae muy buenos recuerdos de la infancia y eso me hace sentir bien.
