Yesterday, I was running some errands with my sister. Since the weather has been so changeable lately, the day suddenly shifted from being extremely sunny and hot to completely overcast, gray, and cold, so we decided to step into a coffee shop to warm up a bit. It’s called Charlotte Café—a simple spot, but one with a concept somewhat similar to Starbucks, serving not only good coffee but also desserts, breakfasts, and snacks, though we only went in for a coffee. Fortunately for us, the place was fairly empty (I like it that way because the atmosphere is calmer), and we were welcomed by the pleasant melody of a bossa nova tune.
We ordered a Vanilla Latte to go, intending to enjoy it on our way, but the rain had other plans; a heavy downpour set in, forcing us to stay put for a while longer. The coffee was absolutely delicious, featuring a distinct vanilla flavor and that foam I love so much—the kind that makes the coffee feel as delightful as a dessert. I usually like my coffee very sweet, but this time I didn't need both sugar packets; just one was enough to make it perfect. The quality of the coffee itself was excellent, too, with a slight bitterness that provided a nice contrast to the sweetness.
This Coffe shop started out as a small but significant spot in the city, but it has grown considerably of late; it now has several branches in the north of the city and even in the suburbs. However, I’ve noticed that many of these locations (including this one) are associated with Boston—a brand that sells chicken—which shows they’ve expanded the concept: it’s no longer just a café, as they now sell that type of food as well (though, to be fair, they did previously serve club sandwiches and similar items).
We decided to enjoy our coffees inside to take shelter from the heavy rain, but Charlotte has a lovely vintage terrace that is perfect for days when it isn't raining—I love it! The service was excellent, too; the staff were very attentive, and the prices are reasonable.
Well, I hope you really enjoyed my review of this spot in Valencia, Venezuela—a peaceful, relaxing place to enjoy a great cup of coffee, just the way I like it. Oh, and by the way, I forgot to mention that the coffee's temperature was perfect for my taste—neither too hot nor too lukewarm—since there are places where they serve it too lukewarm for my liking.
