Hello there Steemers!!!
I have been away a couple of days, one in which I had troubles with connecting to Steemit, while the others going out, hicking, cycling, as it were beautiful days,… and how can you not enjoy to make some sketches laying in the sun?
This time its once again one of my favorite artists … A certain James Jim Morrison from the Doors.
The pose is obviously the most famous one, so I had to pick that one 😊 I did, however, took the liberty to give him an Italia necklace :D
The music this band produced has been my background music for many years now, and it never really failed to inspire me, even if this is true with most bands of the 70ies (in my case,of course).
The ones I love the very best though are Love Street and Summer is almost gone …. But nothing tops the Severed Garden!
Based on a classical (master) piece called Adagio in G minore, it respects the incredibly (sad) feeling this song evokes, giving it a screaming guitar instead of a sea of violins, and adding words which are beautiful poetry.
So while laying in the sun and being bothered by hundreds of flies (I was sweaty as I went cycling and I took my socks off…), I still did enjoy my time drawing and wanted to make Jim Morrison,… so I came back home with this first sketch
I took a bigger, and more expensive sheet of paper as the hair (again) didn’t fit the original piece of paper, and started to do the refining of the lines in ink. I do like doing this as with the light coming from underneath the sheet it gives drawing even more a magical feeling 😊
While after the inking and shading it looked like this
Happy with the inking and first basic layer of shadows, I had to color it again. As I said before, I am still learning to color real drawings in, I usually do that digitally… For some reason I prefer the Black & White version always better, but for the sake of practice here is what came out of the brushes…
I did try to get the pictures with equal light, following the tips of my friend @spaingaroo , as I couldn’t scan the drawing as it is too big .
I hope you like it, if you do please leave a comment below!
