I recently published a new edition of Free Mind Gazette. Titled 'Breaking the Digital Cage,' the piece gets into the nitty gritty of how to break free from the stranglehold of manipulated search and social media. Until we do this, we won't have access to the vast majority of information on the web, and meaningful dissent will continue to be hidden from us by corporate algorithms.
It's almost time to officially announce the conspiracy news search app I recently made. So far it's been successfully tested on windows browsers firefox, chrome, and edge plus mac browsers safari, firefox, and brave. The app is functional on android/chrome but its interactive visualization really wasn't made for mobile. There was also one user who couldn't get the app to load using chrome or safari on mac, so there might be more browser compatibility tweaking to do.
For the last couple of weeks, my girlfriend has been out of town, so I've been spending lots of time alone, caring for plants and an adorable little dog. While I've mostly been writing and coding, I've also used the opportunity to reflect on the epistemology and metaphysics underpinning my beliefs about the world. In general, I believe that material reality emerges from consciousness and not the other way around.
In more practical terms, we can't know what the world actually is except through representations of reality assembled by our consciousness. This implies that some aspects of the world may be difficult or impossible for us to perceive. And if we do perceive them, the way that our consciousness represents them to us may not be at all accurate. These perceptions may be partial, distorted, or even misleading.
I see material reality as an agreement about how to interpret perceptions that's upheld by countless consciousnesses. Many individuals have experiences that don't conform to this agreed upon reality. Some of these experiences are psychic or otherwise supernatural in nature. Some are products of drugs or illness or unthinkable trauma. And some involve various forms of apparent contact with other worlds.
Such nonconforming experiences are perfectly valid. They may also be very important, particularly for the person having the experience. At the same time, there is no way to know the degree to which a person's consciousness has distorted their perceptions of the nonconforming experience. Psychological and personality factors also play a role in how the experience is interpreted.
This means that the stories we tell about nonconforming experiences have value, but these stories are more mythic than factual, if a fact is considered to be an objective truth in our shared material reality. Where things start getting really interesting is when material facts do appear to support the impossible story. UFOs that appear on radar. Biological evidence that something strange happened following an encounter with non-human entities. Though it may be rare, there's strong evidence that this kind of thing sometimes happens.
There are many improbable stories about how the world really works floating around in the conspiracy research community. The murkiest of these are based on memories recovered through hypnosis or by similar means. While some of these accounts are compelling, they're all inherently unreliable. I do think some of these stories point to something important, but I don't trust their descriptions of that something.
Another class of improbable stories involves the intersection of the black budget world and UFOs. Some say the government has made secret deals with one or more extraterrestrial races. Some say there's an ET base on the moon and the government has long known about it. I'm not sure I believe these things, but there's overwhelming evidence that hidden powers influence government at high levels.
If there is an ET race that has some business here on Earth, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the government struck some secret deal with them. Nor would I be surprised to learn that there was one or more networks of technologically elite humans causing UFO sightings or even abductions. They could have social engineering aims or just be doing it for research purposes. Maybe the government struck a deal with a group like this, believing it was a deal with ETs.
Honestly, I don't know about all of that. But I'm certain that the military-industrial complex is sitting on incredible technologies that could otherwise be used to improve society. And reliable sources have suggested that some of this technology wasn't made by humans. If that's really true, then it makes a lot of very far out stories and ideas seem infinitely more plausible.
