Above is a piece of art from my new NFT collection Small Gods of Time Travel. It was generated by artificial intelligence from the words 'a conspiracy to steal our fire,' which is the 31st chapter of the book connected to the collection. The imagery the AI came up with got the fire part right, but I'm not seeing any conspiracy. The NFT can be found here on objkt for 5xtz.
Today was my longest workday of the week, where I finalize the news summaries for the next edition of WantToKnow.info's free newsletter. After completing this task, I went to the coffee shop as usual and was fortunate to secure a spot in the shade. Even though it was the weekend, there was an unusually low number of intolerable people hanging around, which I appreciated.
This nice day stood in stark contrast to the abysmal crypto markets. All signs point to prices going even lower before they recover. I've been doing a little trading to try to mitigate my losses, but the benefits of this are so far trivial. And no amount of trading will recover the money I lost in Terra Luna.
Thinking about my next NFT project, I've been considering doing something with Richard Feynman's physics diagrams. I found someone on Opensea who minted a few of these diagrams as Ethereum NFTs, but there was no art in these. Only copyminting. I'm sure I could do something substantially better.
The exact nature of what I might do with these diagrams is still elusive. Maybe have an AI combine them in nonsensical ways that are nonetheless artistically interesting. Maybe combine them with public domain images from science experiments. Whatever ends up happening, I'm just playing for now.
To be honest, I'm in no rush to take on another big NFT project so soon after completing Small Gods of Time Travel, History and the Machine, and Artifacts of Mind Control. Together, these three projects represent a major milestone for me, and I'm still kind of digesting that. The feedback I've received about them has been mostly good, but somewhat limited. There are days where it feels a bit like I'm working in a vacuum.
More broadly, I've been feeling like I'm entering a new phase of life these last several weeks. In reconnecting with old friends, I've become aware of how very different I am than I used to be. Though my circumstances have been relatively stable for several years, I've changed drastically. I have no idea what comes next, but I'm pretty sure it won't be just more of the same.
The medical and financial hardships I've experienced so far this year have been brutal. They've been familiar on the surface, but I've been relating to them in a new way. For reasons that aren't entirely clear, I've been feeling like these and many other things are increasingly irrelevant. Almost like I'm approaching an inflection point beyond which my current understanding will no longer be applicable.
