These days living in the countryside looks like a win situation. My cousin Ray, sent me this picture from his mother's house. It's located an hour from where he and my mom live. I went to this place a lot when I was a kid. The place is colder and has quite scenic atmosphere.
I always love waking up in a house at the countryside. It feels so good to be waking up to fresh air, the sound of birds, cold weather and lush green plantation. Despite I don't really like the social norm, I do love the scenery. I wish every places in Indonesia have the social norms as Bali, a bit more lax specially when one is are a foreign or foreign nationals. I want that feeling y et only a few places offer this kind of social dynamic.
During this pandemic, living the city life is bleak. A lot of entertainments were closed. It was hell to be staying inside the room all day, all week. As much as I love isolation, I also enjoy being alone in a crowded place. I like the fact that I have this options.
During the lockdown, I also had thoughts that isolation would feel much better in the countryside, with a mini sustainable house and books.
Isolation will feel much better that way.
The city, though provides all sorts of convenience is not a good place for someone who enjoys isolation. I personally will enjoy it slightly if I live in a high up fortress apartment. Otherwise, it feels bleak. Imagine living hidden, isolated in the dark alley of rats infested place, it is fucking bleak.
The only thing that keeps me sane? just the thought that I have my freedom. The freedom to not participate in the society and the options to participate. signing out
