The things I learned from having toxic friends
We all have that one friend, or maybe two.
Whatever the number is, we might have that one friend who doesn’t serve the best interests or contribute positively to our lives.
They can be an expensive lesson.
Somehow, these relationship started off great.
You clicked with each other & thought that you both are going to be best friends forever.
Down the line, they started showing their jealousy, started gossiping behind your back, and sometimes even hurting you, while you’re discounting everything they do.
As you discount their bad behavior, they kept on doing things that are destructive to you.
They probably compare you to someone that they might think better than you are.
They talk down to your big ideas.
They think you can’t do anything because anything is almost impossible.
They get jealous when you do something great and will try to sabotage you with their deceitful words.
Somehow, you did not realize that they are projecting their life.
Sometimes, you realized a little too late...
When they already rob your confidence & self-esteem.
Then, they ghosted you and leave you wondering.
Their bad behavior hurts you to the core that you don’t believe real friendship exist anymore.
That everyone out there is fake and trying to get you.
But sometimes you stumble upon your past.
The past friendship that blooms again.
The friendship that gets rekindled and show you that a real friend exist.
That a real friend support your big ideas.
That a real friend goes out of their way to help you achieve your dream.
That a real friend doesn’t get jealous of your life achievements and milestones.
That they’ll be the one to clap harder when you’re winning.
They don’t see you as competitors but rather a life companion; they walk in achieving their dreams and you walk achieving yours.
In between, you help each other and contribute positively to the relationship.
You deal with disagreement in a lot more civilized way.
While the toxic friendship remain an expensive lesson, you begin to appreciate the value of a real friend and start believing that it exist.
