It's That Time Of Year!
Here in the UK, berries come at during the best time of the year, the summer. In my personal opinion Strawberries are the best around the time of the Wimbledon Tennis competition, coincidentally with the cliche strawberries and cream! In my garden, we currently have Gooseberries (first 2 pictures), Blackberries and Raspberries (last picture). I'm looking forward to adding those to some yoghurts that I'll have for lunch and/or dinner.
Low Mainteneance
Luckily for anyone looking to do the same and grow some berries in their garden, luckily they are very low mainteneace. To my knowledge all they need is some water and I don't think they need any feed at all! They are quite robust in that if they go to long not being watered they should still be okay after a big drink. They shouldn't rot and die off! We don't want that now do we...
Watch Those Birds!
Birds love to indulge on berries, any variety at all they're not fussy! Be warned when your berries are almost ready to pick and you think to yourself, 'oh I'll pick those in a couple of days', you'll come back to your berry bush with no berries left! A bit catastrophic perhaps but they are something to be mindful of! In my case, my two dogs like to sniff and nibble at the berries so we have to be watchful for that!
