I have seen that the quickest way to evoke a reaction of change from another person over a situation or desire you actually want to see manifested is not to nag about it. I've done that so much and I can't even use words like 'in the past' because my past is so close to me. Say, about three to four months ago.
I've had a lot of time to think since that time about my approach to certain events in my life that I wished the other person would do something about. This was until I changed my mindset from giving up so much control to someone else and doing something with the only person over whom I actually had the power to control---me.
I realized that there was a lot I could change if I focused more on me instead. Behaviours of other people are a consequence or should I say, a side effect of yours. If you give a person a glass of water, you are doing something, you are partaking in an action whose resulting effect or consequence would be 'thank you' from the recipient if that was what he or she requested for .In the same vein, if you offer someone a snake, they would be forced to react with a scream perhaps. The only factor that was different was the 'object sent' and the most important person was the initiator--again you. I hope you can see now how much power there is in your hands.
With this knowledge, I felt like my eyes had received light, my mind was truly illuminated and I identified areas in my life where I needed to let go of the fretting and the anxiety over another person's response. I decided to take charge and do things I expected them to do. It is better to do things than to tell. Set the example and they would have no other option that to consciously develop a pattern themselves. Say you want someone to say 'good morning' to you every morning and they don't want to or feel like it's not important to you. If you decide to say 'good morning' to them first and each day consistently, they will have no other option to respond with the same greeting. The power is in your hands.
That was one simple example, but imagine how much such a principle could be used to cause reactions or a reaction chain and completely change the way you view the world and even the nature of the world itself. It is a principle I intend to live by now that I have truly discovered it's power. Knowledge is of no value if it does not come along with power. And power is only as a result of implementing this knowledge, in trying out and testing for yourself to see what grand miracles can come out of it.
I want to reach a place where if I see something I don't like in someone, I will ask nicely for a change and if there is none, I will be the example of the change I want to see. I also am giving less and less power to disappointment when I don't see that change even with the example I have set and to find joy in other things. I don't want anyone's action or inaction to cause a hole in my life. It will not be less complete whether they are doing those things or not. I want people to enhance what I already have and not fill a deep need enough to have power over me when they deny me of said need.
I know this might sound idealistic, but I believe it can be achieved.
Thanks for stopping by!
