The other day I spotted some more heirloom seeds and so of course I had to buy them.
The first one that caught my eye was the heirloom New Zealand spinach.
I have been searching for this one for ages as some years ago, I had it growing in my garden in Durban.
It is delicious and grows very quickly - and all year round.
The leaves are small and quite fleshy and cuttings grow very easily. The spinach is low growing like a ground cover and when cooked, the leaves are delicious.
I have planted the seeds and will give an up date as they progress.
The next one now planted is the cherry tomato "Sweetie" which is a very small tomato with a delicious sweet taste - the seeds have already popped up so I am thrilled.
Also in the above image is the Crystal Apple cucumber which is a white cucumber and is said to have a slight taste of apple in the flavour.
I have never grown a white cucumber before, so I am interested as to how this one will grow - I may be a little late with my planting, but am hoping that there is enough summer still in hand to see them produce - if not, there is always next year.
