What a week it's been; fighting friggin' useless politicians to no avail; giving my son the nod and saying spread your wings my child and grab the opportunity to seek greener pastures as the politicians are messing up our beautiful country big time!

We were on our way to fetch a very good friend and take a drive up to the Valley of a 1000 Hills, one of my favourite areas, when things took a turn for the worst.

Trying to compose an urgent email in a moving vehicle when you know you are prone to motion sickness is the most stupid thing I have done in a very long time, and something I will never ever do again. I can't even read in a moving vehicle either, so I should have known better!

My head started spinning, I was extremely nauseous and could not wait to sit down at a table outdoors, so I could feel more grounded.

I felt like I'd been on a rollercoaster ride, and could not enjoy the breathtaking view of the Valley nor the stunning plants and goods they sell at the Stonehouse in Botha's Hill, but I tried to take a couple of photos of plants that caught my eye.

A display of bags in material with animal prints, like leopard, guinea fowl, and zebra caught my eyes.

It is quite amazing to think that these baby Cyprus trees will one day be towering over smaller shrubs and trees.

Back at home, a tranquil corner in our garden greeted me, with the Azalea showing off next to a lush fern.

This bamboo palm simply appeared from nowhere and will have to be moved before it gets too big. We have a huge one growing at the bottom of the garden. The Aloe Vera is looking very happy tucked away here.

I could not look at my phone or the computer screen that night as it made me feel worse but expected to wake up feeling 100% on Friday.

That did not happen, I felt off-balance, head floating and extremely nauseous, so nothing much got done, had to limit my screen time and could not wait to lay my head down to feel like I'm on terra firma. It was just an awful day as my dear friends whose home was destroyed, had a sad remembrance of their daughter's death two years ago, and they just wanted to be alone.

I woke up feeling better on Saturday, especially after speaking to my friend who told me a lovely story when our conversation turned to birthday celebrations as hubby's is coming up.

Her father decided to take her fifth birthday party to a children's home.

He hired one of those old-fashioned ice-cream vans that used to go around playing a tune enticing children and had indulgent parents digging into their wallets for cash.
Her Mom had made all the eats and the children could have as many ice creams as they wanted after they had a meal, cake, and candies.
She said that was the best birthday party she ever had, and I can just imagine the delight of the children!

I was not surprised to hear that her parents were so selfless to think of doing something like that, as both she and her husband are real angels!

We invited my friend artywink@artywink and her hubby over as there was much catching up and planning to be done for our upcoming and much-needed breakaway down the coast with my brother and his wife.
She brought the most delicious chicken curry and a fresh orange cake. I only made the salad - a coleslaw with a difference - I added red peppers, mushrooms, fresh herbs, and a Greek dressing.
We talked way too much and were starving by the time we had our meal, so I forgot about taking pics and all I can show you is the salad.

It was just the kind of 'pick-me-up' that I needed after an awful week, but as the night wore on, that awful dizzy feeling returned.

Breakfast this morning was a simple one - beef sausages and lazy-gal's poached eggs, not the real thing, but still...

Sharing with you what a difference adding a little bit of this and that makes to a meal.

Looks a whole lot more appetizing with a few trimmings added, not so!

And so my horrid week ended on a better note, but my head feels kind of floaty again, so I think an 'early-to-bed' night will make a huge difference.

As for the email that started all my misery, I will have to wait and see whether we get answers as to when we can expect something to be done with regards to the restoration of property following the storm, as no one is saying a word!
