I couldn't let this day past without making sure it stays on the chain. Afterall, 9 years is a pretty long time. If I get to live till 80, that's more than 10% of my life!
The overall sentiment on Hive hasn't exactly been the greatest in the past 9 months. The price has continued to drop making a lot of people uneasy. I don't understand the exact economics of the chain, but I appreciate them being concerned.
Others are uncomfortable because they've invested fiat into Hive, and it's never good when you suffer a loss in your investments. There's no sure win in investment. Hopefully they will understand this, after all, Investment 101 says you should never invest more than you can afford to lose. Even if you invested in Micron or SanDisk this year (congrats if you did), there's no guarantee the pump will continue.
Then there's a group of people who are demoralised because their post payouts are worth tuppence now. They feel Hive isn't worth their effort anymore. It's a pity they feel this way. Perhaps they should go back to web 2.0 where they get zero for their content.
And finally there's a group of people who still haven't lost faith in Hive admist this spiral. I like to think there's more of them than I know. Not losing faith is one thing, appreciating Hive and the people as a community takes things to another level, and that's what keeps me here.
In the past year I've continued to build my stake. The low price had helped tremendously and I hit the 200k mark a couple of months ago. The low price makes people very uncomfortable, but it's also the best time to build your stake and I will continue to do so.
Being part of the middle class won't enable me to make significant waves on Hive, but I can voice my opinions when I see behaviours that I disagree with. Anti abuse will always be on my agenda. If you see a downvote from me, you will know why. If you don't, then you're probably circle jerking, or creating low level content frequently that has zero engagement and don't realise you're milking on Hive.
Twelve months ago I could have walked away with three or four times more than I currently have in my wallet, but I choose to stay. I have no regrets about this decision as I came to Hive with nothing, so I haven't lost anything. My gain, in terms of friendship made, honing in on my writing skills, learning so much about the rest of the world and what I have left in my wallet far exceeds all the "loss".
You will be seeing my 10th Hiversary post in a year's time.
