ENGLISH
Greetings guys, today I wanted to share with you about a very nice place I met this week.
It is Mam Café y Vida, which is a café-restaurant with a very new concept around here, since its entire menu is based on gluten-free cuisine, cow dairy, trans fats, polyalcohols, refined sugar and peanuts, that is basically the diet that we should all eat if we want to get rid of inflammatory diseases.
I tell you that I did not know of the existence of this cafe, if not because my best friend told me about it and said I wanted to visit it, the truth is that I rarely check social networks to see what new food places open and I'm pretty basic with what I like, so I had zero expectations.
It is located in the Centro Comercial la Vela, in the old area, basically in the whole entrance, I remember that in this place there was another place with another restaurant, but right now I don't remember it, it is a pretty spacious place with a very “organic” decoration, that's how I would describe it, because it is a mix of minimalism with some natural green and wood.
I must admit that I really liked the decoration, it was one of my favorite parts because it had an off white tone, with pine wood and some grayish blue. The touch of the decoration with natural plants was my favorite part, in fact, some of them you could see the root floating in the water, I was hypnotized for a while with that while I was waiting for the menu.
When it arrived I found it quite striking, as I said I had not been to a place like this around here, the description looks delicious indeed, at least for me, I like a lot of vegetables and try to try substitutes for sugar and cow's milk, as some around here will know that I am intolerant to gluten, lactose, and when I move away a little from carbs, I feel that I have a hard time digesting sugar as well.
I don't know if it will be to everyone's liking, the semi entrees, because they are mostly Brunchs or Snacks, looked pretty good, they have them categorized into Post Meridiem, Ante Meridiem, Cultivated Bowls, Bien Estar, Embraced Mam and the drinks. I'll leave the menu of everything in the pictures for you to detail.
Actually we were going for coffee and some dessert, so I opted for a Mocca with Merey's milk, and a Brownie, (as I told you, I am pretty basic with desserts, don't judge me) my friend took a risk and as she is not lactose intolerant she ordered a Cold blueberry cheese cake with a goat milk base.
As you see in the description at the beginning they don't use artificial sweeteners, as I understood they use is coconut sugar only, in fact, at the table we had coconut sugar to sweeten, I couldn't tell you how my friend's dessert was because I didn't try it due to my intolerance, but it looked good; however, she gave it a 7/10 in conjunction with a Cappuccino with goat milk, which she also ordered.
I'll be brutally honest with my opinion, I kinda hated the Mocca! Sorry, but it's the truth, I feel it tasted neither chocolatey, nor coffee 🥴; the brownie, on the other hand, was quite dry, didn't taste like cocoa and I felt the portion was too small, sorry, but I didn't like either of the 2 things. In fact, I added a bit of coconut sugar to see if that was it, but no, the coffee flavor was not felt at all and the cocoa was nowhere either, the brownie felt like a cookie without much flavor. I gave everything a 6/10, in fact the 6 is for the SorryNotSorry place.
We only tasted that, the bill at the end was 20 $, not so bad for such a nice and different place, but, even though I had no expectations, I still felt a little disappointed because I always wanted to try a coffee of this type that was clean in ingredients and preparation to feel that I could adapt well to the ingredients sometime, but the truth is I felt a little sad to think that if we can get to those flavors with a Clean kitchen then it will be very difficult for me to adapt 100%.
In the end I must admit that it was a good experience, we tried something different, we were there for a while talking about work, some clinical cases and some gossip, but we were not completely satisfied, so we promised to come back for some of the brunch style dishes, snacks or bowls, hoping that the experience will be a little better.
I hope everyone is having a good weekend and if anyone around here has tried this style of food: gluten free, sugar free, lactose free, sweetener free, you can leave me your opinions to retake the hope that it was just this place that felt a little “Undesirable”.
Thanks for stopping by and reading me!
