I like to help and I do it without expecting anything in return, but if you're going to thank me let it be in private, please.
Hello dear fellow hive members, another weekend to answer the questions posed by @galenkp in his #105 engagement link.
Over the course of my life I have provided help, from the simplest thing like lending a pencil in the classroom, to being part of the process to achieve a life goal and that fulfills me as a person, makes me proud of myself. I have never done anything to be thanked, if it is in my possibilities and it comes from my heart I do it, it will also depend on the person, maybe there I am a little selfish, but when it comes to someone who is not good people, I try to avoid any kind of contact.
Maybe because I am a little introverted in some cases, I don't like to call attention to myself, I prefer to keep my head down as we say in my country, this means to go unnoticed, so if you have something to tell me, to thank me, let's go in private.
When my daughter was little, I had a lot of communication with the teachers, I had free time and even a friendship with some of them, so when they needed help to carry out a special activity such as a festival, an event, a billboard, among others, I gave them the support that was within my reach, in some cases I donated materials, food, objects and sometimes I was present in the preparations.
Once the activity was over, the teachers would name the representatives who had collaborated in some way. That was a very uncomfortable moment for me, when I heard my name accompanied by "Valeria's mother", I had to get up from my chair so that everyone present would know me, raise my hand, wave and receive the applause and thanks from the teachers and the other representatives. How embarrassing it felt. While I could watch as other moms enjoyed their 5 seconds of fame.
I would tell the teachers before that little tribute that it was okay with me if they didn't do it, or that they could just not mention me, they would laugh, because they knew it made me uncomfortable and would just say, "that passes quickly, stop the embarrassment". So for about 4 long years I dealt with that situation.
To give you an idea of how painful it feels to be the center of attention, I tell you that when I graduated from college I did not want to attend the graduation ceremony, in the two opportunities I received my degree by secretary, my classmates never understood my decision, but just the fact of being in an auditorium with a large crowd, hearing my name, walking and feeling all the looks and cameras on me, made me feel anxious. That's why I chose option 2, even if I had to wait a little longer.
In conclusion, I don't like to be the center of attention in public, at least not to be thanked, being in Hive has helped me to be more casual, since we must make community and the only way is interacting which is why I have learned to enjoy compliments in public, sometimes I forget that everything that is written in the comments and on the platform in general, anyone can read it and I get carried away by the moment 😂😂. Now, if I don't get comments on a post, it makes me feel a little frustrated.
Eating junk food like hamburgers, hot dogs, pizzas, cakes, sweets, bread (lots of wheat flour, puff pastry dough) chocolates, sweet or salty treats (not very healthy processed food). I don't do it every day, but I still have to reduce my consumption. I have always been overweight and last year I managed to lose a few hundred kilos, of which I have already recovered about five.
