I posted yesterday that my son was celebrating his first birthday. I made a huge and delicious cake for the party and when it was time to serve it my husband and I had a small disagreement. We have a general agreement that for as long as possible, we would protect our son from candies and other sweet stuff such as cookies, unhealthy juices, pastries etc. However, now it was our son’s first birthday and I thought that a tiny tiny tiny slice of his birthday cake wouldn’t do any harm.
Just imagine the situation. There is a huge cake made for his birthday and we take hundreds of photos of this cake with the birthday boy, we slice the cake, eat it, complement it and don’t give him any of it? Seriously? It’s his cake after all! Still, in my husband’s opinion, we were on a slippery slope and he suffered while watching our son tasting his cake. Everyone else shared my opinion except for our son’s godfather, who likes it very healthy and stuff. Yes, I gave our little boy a tiny piece of the cake and he deeply enjoyed it. I don’t feel guilty. :)
