Live simply, walk humbly, and love genuinely ❤️.
Hi, by the way, I am Glaice from the Philippines. Most people call me "Icy" just like my parents, relatives, and neighbors but my friends call me "Glai", and "Glace". Anyways, you can call me any of that.
I am new to the hive and I heard it through my friend who is my neighbor too @discoveringarni at the pool where we live. I found it interesting and good but since I am a newbie I don't have any idea about this. I don't know if I can do it because I know I am not good at writing. I only write if I am sad just to express my feelings especially when I don't have someone to talk with. But she gave me tips and ideas on how to do it.
To give you more information about me I am the eldest of six children. I have three sisters including me and three brothers. I am an undergraduate from Cebu Technological University taking a course Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology. I had different kinds of job experience. I was working in a Japanese company as an electronic assembler, Mall as a sales assistant, Pharmacy as a pharmacist assistant, and in the Barangay where I grew up as a Barangay secretary. I am 27 years old and a mother of one. Yes, I have a son and he is six years old now. I raised him alone since his father left us. I've experienced " postpartum depression" after giving birth which means 'a mood disorder involving intense psychological depression that typically occurs within one month after giving birth, lasts more than two weeks. Below are some of my symptoms:
• Depression
• Difficulty bonding of my baby
• I cry a lot
• Loss of appetite
• I had insomnia
• Weak
• Reduced interest that I used to enjoy
• Intense anger
• Fear that I am not a good mother
• Hopelessness
• Feelings of worthlessness
• No ability to make decisions
• Restlessness
• Severe panic attacks
• Severe anxiety
• Thoughts of harming my baby
• I was even attempting to suicide
According to Google, untreated, postpartum depression may last for many months or longer.
And based on my experienced it lasts years resulting from that I loosed my weight from forty-five kilograms to thirty-six kilograms. This is a flashback photo of how I looked before and after I had it.
Before
After
I don't want anyone to see me because I know that they don't understand. Having a mental breakdown alone is not easy. You go through all that by yourself but God knows how many times you cried and got hurt. One day I looked back at those hardships, smiled, and said 'I did'. I didn't grow up according to plans. I'm a failure to my parents but still, they're always by my side. With their help, prayers, and faith in God, I survived. This is me now with my loving son.
As my sister reminds me always that
"Love the life you live, live the life you love". It doesn't matter what's your past, the most important thing is you learned from it. Be grateful and content for what you have, and most especially be thankful to God for everything. Life is given by Him so enjoy it and spend it with the important people in your life. Thank you for your time reading. See you on my next blog.
