I took this photo when I was down at the beach the other day.
This is my outdoor coffee shop I visit when I am in Cape Town.
They make great coffee. Vida e Caffe is a franchise in South Africa that has done incredibly well for itself. There is one in almost every neighborhood.
But I actually went to the beach to get footage of this building.
The last time I was here the neighborhood had allowed a group of school children to do a mural on both sides.
The mural I found was so amazing that I took half an hour to photograph it great detail. The mural was quite political though.
All of the little additions, done by hand by the kids, were based on a very liberal perspective that encompassed all of humanity. And saving the planet.
It was incredibly beautiful and heartwarming to see children being allowed to have a voice in the community.
I was devastated to find that it had been painted over on this visit. I can't understand why the community would do such a thing other than it was quite a political statement by the kids.
Or should I say an anti political statement.
Sadly, I lost the original photos and I only hope that, somewhere out there, another human took the time to document this once all to beautifully human addition to the beach front.
